The Investments Promotion and Reciprocal Protection Agreement with the Government of the Swiss Confederation Ratification Proclamation

WHEREAS, an Agreement, between the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Government of the Swiss Confederation, on the promotion and reciprocal protection of investments was signed in Addis Ababa on the 16th day of October, 1997;

WHEREAS, it is stipulated in the Agreement that the Agreement shall enter into force on the day when both contracting parties have notified each other that their legal requirements for the entry into force of international agreements have been fulfilled;

WHEREAS, the House of Peoples’ Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has ratified said Agreement at its session held on the 7th day of July, 1998;

1. SHORT TITLE

This Proclamation may be cited as the “Investments Promotion and Reciprocal Protection Agreement with the Government of the Swiss Confederation Ratification Proclamation No. 127/1998.”

2. RATIFICATION OF THE AGREEMENT

The Agreement on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments signed in Addis Ababa on the 16th day of October, 1997 between the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Government of the Swiss Confederation is ratified.

3. POWER OF THE ETHIOPIAN INVESTMENT AUTHORITY

The Ethiopian Investment Authority is hereby empowered to implement the Agreement.

4. EFFECTIVE DATE

This Proclamation shall come into force as of the 7th day of July, 1998.
